About Jen

Hi, I’m Jen — founder of The Jen Advantage.

I work with business owners and nonprofit leaders who feel stuck, scattered, or unsure about their marketing. My goal is simple: help you understand what’s really happening, clarify your message, and give you a clear, actionable path forward.

Marketing doesn’t have to feel overwhelming or mysterious. I thrive on helping leaders see it in a practical, no-nonsense way. Over the years, I’ve written two books on marketing fundamentals — one for small business owners and one for nonprofits — and created courses and resources designed to bring clarity and confidence to leaders who don’t have time to waste.

Creativity has always been part of who I am. I was the kid who wrote extra-long book reports and made the neighborhood kids perform the skits I dreamed up. That early love of storytelling eventually grew into a career. I’ve worked as a newspaper editor, an editorial assistant in book publishing, and an editor of a local magazine. I’ve managed marketing for multiple government programs, served as a nonprofit marketing director, and presented trainings and public events for organizations looking to grow their impact.

Marketing for small businesses and nonprofits is a natural fit for me because at its core, it’s about service. It’s about helping good people communicate clearly so they can do more of the work that matters. I truly love what I do.

Outside of work, you’ll likely find me tending to my mini homestead — baking sourdough, celebrating a fresh egg from the chickens, or trying (sometimes unsuccessfully) to outsmart the critters in my vegetable garden. I love reading, writing, being in nature, and spending time in prayer. I cherish traveling with my family just as much as I treasure slow, cozy evenings at home.

My life and work are rooted in integrity, faith, creativity, and the deep joy of helping others grow.
